Personally, I usually base myself in either Falmouth or St Ives which are centrally located for many of the small coastal south coast towns. A good place to base yourself would be St Agnes as it is, geographically speaking, sort of in the middle but on the coast and nice and quiet but with good local amenities. The Lizard Village and lighthouse.

I don’t think there are any particular sites that we would feel are ‘must see’. We would like to stay in a self catering cottage or apartment, in a holiday park or on its own, sea views would be a bonus!

Re: Best place to base in Cornwall for 4 or 5 days However, there are so many stunningly beautiful places in Cornwall that also fit the description that you are asking for so you might also like to look at, in no particular order, Mevagissey, The Lizard, Marazion, Mousehole, Padstow, Newquay, Tintagel, Looe, Falmouth, Porthleven, St Agnes or Fowey. I suppose I am just looking for that chocolate box Cornwall town, pretty harbour, narrow cobbled streets, quaint shops and restaurants. We normally go to So my question is this, which town should we select for the best Cornwall experience? Our main interests would be stunning natural scenery, cute little shops/restaurants/pubs and easy to access other areas for day trips. Padstow is very touristy and it is smaller than St Ives and does get pretty busy too.
