Well, because in every 3rd-5th grade classroom I'm in, more than half of the students have one or more of these books on their desk. I see why kids love them - goofy & fun! After reading this particular Dog Man book I understood why so many of my students love them.

They are definitely great books for struggling readers and they have ample picture supports, but are also relatively long so students feel as if they are reading big chapter books like some of their peers.
