It's only a 70 minute feature, so you can see why it doesn't reflect Mary Shelley's' novel to well. The true original in crisp detail, wonderfully atmospheric and still effective Karloff's mastery as the creature is superlative, evoking sympathy for his helplessness and ire for the shallow regard shown too his creation's agonised cries for help in understanding his 'rebirth.' As the essential part of the "lake scene" was cut from the film in 1931, theater and later TV audiences were left to wonder how the girl who was found in the lake actually met her death. I think this is a more darker and straightforward horror film than Bride and it also has a more sombre ending.
